SoMi In Action
Here at SoMi, our staff, students and families take pride in serving our community and encourage social responsibility. For over the past 6 years, we have actively participated in:
Thanksgiving Food Drive-
During the month of November, each classrooms conducts a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit families in need. Thanks to the generous donations from our families, SoMi donates an average of 50 grocery bags filled with non-perishable food, a 10lb turkey along with a $50 Publix supermarket gift card to the South Miami Community Center for distribution to select families in the South Miami Community.
South Miami Hospital Twilight 5K Run
Annually, SoMi Parents, students, and staff look forward to gathering for the South Miami Hospital Twilight 5K Run. We are proud to announce that we have raised hundreds of dollars for this deserving cause to help the community of South Miami.
Local Park Involvement
Throughout the school year, SoMi students and parents are actively involved in our local parks and communities. Over 500 students participate in baseball, basketball, and soccer leagues at Palmer and Murray Park located in South Miami.
Holiday Toy Drive
During the Holiday season SoMi students, staff, and families donate hundreds of toys to the South Miami Community Center. The South Miami Community Center has distributed these toys to select families in the South Miami area.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida
SoMi students, staff, and families raise funds in various ways throughout the school year, which are then donated to the Ronald McDonald House, located adjacent to the Holtz Children’s Hospital inside of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Amigos For Kids
SoMi students participate in the Amigos For Kids annual kids fashion show that raises funds to help inner city.
